Nearly twelve years ago, our friend Tiffany brought a cat to us (Tigger) with her two kittens, who we named Olive and Minnie. We figured they were born on or about the same day Casey was born so they've always been the exact same age as Casey. They've been wonderful companions to us all -- Olive developed a "head tilt" this fall but she still gets about pretty well. Minnie, we fear, has gone off to die. We miss her quite a bit.
Fearing that Olive won't fare well as a solitary barn kitty, we brought home two new companions for her yesterday (11/16/08). We went to a lady's apartment where she had several 7-8 week old kitties. She also had three kitties who were closer to eight months old. I tried to kiss up to the babies but they really didn't seem to have lovable personalities. I had been petting a charcoal and peach calico when I first got there. After messing with the babies for a few minutes I noticed that the C/P calico was really into Joe. She was loving him up big time. Meanwhile, her sister, a tuxedo came over for a look into what was going on.
It was obvious. They were our kitties. The lady told us the C/P calico was called Bella and the tuxedo kitty was called Punky. Also, since they are around eight months old, we are putting their birthdate on Casey's birthday as well.
The kids had no idea what we were up to. We walked into the house with the cat carrier and set it down. Hannah and Chip were all over it. Casey was upstairs and came down to see what we found "on Craig's List."
Punky is definitely very verbal, tho Bella has a lot to say as well. They're eating and drinking well. They play and cuddle and love up. They'll live in Joe's and my bedroom for a week or so til they get used to us. We'll bring Olive in to get them used to her for a few days. And see how it goes.
